
COVID Risk Assessment for Boston and East Street
Thank you for your continued support during these most unusual of times. Below is the COVID Risk Assessment for both sites which was reviewed last week. I would now like to provide the opportunity for parents to make their contributions to the next review which is due to take place in November with Governors and Staff. Setting the Scene:
School re-opening following Coronavirus shutdown and Summer holidays– this risk assessment applies to all children and staff on the Boston Avenue site only with children ranging from Yrs. 2 to 6. ALL children and staff will now be in attendance according to Government guidelines. The Head teacher, Principal Deputy or Assistant Headteacher will be in attendance at all time that children are in school. In their absence a Senior Teacher will assume main responsibility for supervising staff and pupils. Catering staff will be in attendance during the school day following their usual hours, including Breakfast and After-school Club. Cleaning staff may not be available during this time but site staff will be on duty following their usual working pattern. Pupil will return to usual uniform expectations but on days when they have PE or an after school sports club, they must come in to school wearing PE kit (PE lesson days) or clothes appropriate for the sporting activity (club days).

8. Behaviour policy will be updated prior to school reopening. Any risk of spitting or other behaviour difficulties that require close contact with the child will need an individual risk assessment to be written (or health care plan).

9. All surfaces such as handles, toilets, tables, chairs and shared equipment will be cleaned using disinfectant at the end of each day.

10. Two entrances in to the school to be used at start of the day and at the end of day. Head teacher will provide authorised parents with a time for drop off and collect their children through Parent mail: Yr2: 8.35–3.05 / Yr3: 8.50-3.20 / Yr4: 8.30-3.00 / Yr5: 8.30-3.00 / Yr6: 8.20-2.50

11. Ensure there is a medical room available for treatment of sick or injured pupils – have a sink and access to a toilet available that is segregated from general use. This will be the First Aid Room.

13. Maintenance team will work with the Head Teacher to ensure that staff will be informed of any changes to the fire evacuation route during this time. If some exit doors are not in use, all staff and pupils will be briefed.

Individual risk assessments will be undertaken if necessary.
All staff and children are to return to work as the shielding period has come to an end. No full school assemblies will be carried out. If children need to be addressed by the Head Teacher or an SLT member, this will be done in each classroom, in the hall with social distancing being observed or in a suitably sized classroom that can accommodate social distancing rules.
Parent meetings will be carried out via virtual meetings wherever possibly, including third party consultants/advisors if necessary. Parent / Teacher meeting will take place outside of the school. Class Dojo will be used as a tool to communicate with parents and will be set up before October half term.
The staff using the Staff Room will be encouraged to sit in a way that complies with social distancing rules. The fridge handles in staff room will be washed on daily basis. The staff room will be deep cleaned on weekly basis. Cleaners The photocopier will be cleaned regularly each day using anti-bacteria wipes. Cleaners
Where possible, staff will be asked to bring in their own water bottles rather than to use school drink making facilities. Hot water, soap, paper towels and hand sanitizer will be available in the staff room.
